There very few restrictions to borrowing money on the Help to Buy scheme. You can’t apply for the Help to Buy scheme if you are buying a second home or planning to rent out the property. In using the Help to Buy scheme, you can only take out a repayment mortgage. Moreover, you cannot buy a property with a price more than the set limits, which differs depending on the country. There are no limitations on the size of the property you can buy. Some of the other restrictions are set by lenders. They create these restrictions so that they do not face any deficits by helping people who are bad for business. So these restrictions work as a filter to screen individuals who are not eligible to borrow money on the Help to Buy scheme.
